Upward Pickleball
First Pres is partnering with Upward Sports to bring a pickleball league to middle and high schoolers in Madisonville. It's a fun, welcoming place to learn the game, build skills, and make friends, whether your student has never held a paddle or already plays with family. Every Saturday morning includes skill instruction, a short devotion, and doubles play with players of similar skill.
Season at a Glance
- When: Saturday mornings
- Where: 260 West McLaughlin Avenue, Madisonville, Kentucky 42431
- Grades 6 to 8. $85 league fee and includes a team shirt and a swag bag. Registration closes 11/30. No experience needed, and families do not need to be members of First Pres.
Coaches & Volunteers Needed
A league only works because of people who show up. We need coaches, check-in helpers, court monitors, and devotion leaders. You don't have to be a pickleball expert. You only need to enjoy middle and high schoolers and be willing to encourage them. Message us for an information sheet and consent for a background check.

Does my student need experience or their own paddle?
No experience is needed. All skill levels are welcome, from first-timers to students who already play. Paddles and balls are provided / Students are welcome to bring their own paddle.
Do we have to attend First Pres?
No. Families from any church, or no church, are welcome.
What happens at each session?
Each night includes check-in and warm-up, skill instruction, a short devotion, and doubles play with students of similar skill. Sessions last about 1 hour.
What if my student misses a night?
Let your coach or John Perdue know ahead of time when you can. Teams are made up of 4 so there is flexibility for someone else to step in.
What should my student wear or bring?
Comfortable athletic clothes, sneakers or court shoes, and a water bottle. With each league fee, you will receive a t-shirt to wear with your team color.
How do I register, and what does it cost?
Use the Register Now button on this page by November 30th. The cost is $85, which includes a team t-shirt and a swag bag? Please reach out to us if you need financial assistance! We want all who are interested involved!
Do you offer discounts for siblings?
Yes, message us for the discount code for siblings. The discount is $5 for each sibling.
Do you offer discounts for foster and adoptive families?
Yes, as a foster or adoptive parent, you have opened your home to those in need! Please message us for a 50% off discount code for each child.

Opening Night
Stay tuned for a time to meet the coaches, see the courts, and ask questions. Students can try a paddle, and families can get settled before the first session.
