June Notes from the Pastor

pastor notes juneIt’s a well deserved summer break for all of our students, educators and administrators of our schools.  It was a year of challenges for all of them and we pray for a joyous summer break for them all!

Thanks to everyone who contributed toward our Pentecost Special Offering on Sunday, May 23rd.  This special offering supports children-at-risk, young adults and youth.  40% of this offering remains with our congregation to develop and support programs for young people in our own church and community.

Please be in prayer for our Pastor Nominating Committee as they search for our next pastor.  We’ll all be in prayer for God’s guidance as they begin this process of discernment.  A big thanks also to our Nominating Committee for their work over the past year!
Our PNC Members are:
From the Session:  Pete Phelan, Shirley Michael, Rick Lee, and Mike Hofmann
At Large:  Suzanne Wilson, Anna Leasure, and Brianna Gregory

This year has really sped by so far.  I can’t believe that it is already June!  I’m looking forward to being with you each Sunday in June and worshipping God alongside you.  I have really enjoyed my time here and I thank you all for blessing me with this opportunity.

Congratulations to our NCAA Bracket Champion this year!  Jackson Bower has won my fellowship bracket contest in back-to-back years.

Preview and Invitation for May 23rd

Here's my "Preview and Invitation" for our worship service this Sunday.  It's Pentecost Sunday, so be sure to wear "Holy Spirit" red.  The message will be "A Spirit of Unity."  We're hoping it will be every bit as powerful as Peter's message on the first Pentecost, so we're looking for 3000 new members.

Preview and Invitation for May 16th

Here's my "Preview and Invitation" for our worship service this Sunday.  The message will be "Using Our Other Eyes."  We would love to have you join us for worship in the sanctuary at 10:15, but if you can't make it, you can catch the livestream or recorded video on the "newfpc" channel of YouTube or Twitch.

Preview and Invitation for May 9th

Here's my "Preview and Invitation" for our worship service this Sunday, Mother's Day.  We'll recognize our mothers and all those who have served as surrogate mothers for us.  The message will be "A Patient Teacher," the story of Philip and the Ethiopian.  We have certainly witnessed many "patient teachers" in our community over the past 15 months.  We hope you'll join us for worship at 10:15.

Preview and Invitation for May 2nd

Here's my "Preview and Invitation" for worship this Sunday.  Hopefully the last horse will have finished the Derby by then.  The message will be "Bearing Much Fruit," and we'll have an old friend as our guest musician.  Hope to see everyone in the sanctuary at 10:15!

May Notes from the Pastor

may pastor notesIt was great to see everyone on Easter Sunday!  The Easter lilies looked great and I enjoyed celebrating the Day of Resurrection with each of you!  A big “thanks” to Pastor Pete for leading our Sonrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on Easter morning.  The weather was beautiful and the pealing bell brought us into the Easter Day with praise.

We were so grateful for having Jonathan Stocke supply worship music for us during Mike and Ann’s vacation on April 18th.  It’s nice to be surrounded by so many talented people!

Our Nominating Committee is currently working on nominating our Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC).  Our PNC will have 7 members, 4 from the Session and 3 at-large.  If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let the Nominating Committee members know.  They are: Pete Phelan, Susanna Lee, Billie Ann Bevels, Gayle Tabor and Luanne Cole.

The Session has approved the installation of an outdoor LED sign that will allow us to promote and advertise our activities to those driving along Princeton Road/McLaughlin Avenue.  This was made possible by a very generous donation by one of our members toward the purchase and installation of the sign.

Preview and Invitation for April 25th

Here's my "Preview and Invitation" for worship this Sunday.  There is no prediction for snow, but this IS Kentucky.  We hope you'll join us for worship at 10:15 when my message will be "Our Good Shepherd."  As always, being in the sanctuary together is better, but worshiping with us via livestream on YouTube or Twitch is OK too.
