GENERAL ASSEMBLY - DAY 6

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

“Love wisdom like a sister, make insight a beloved member of your family.”  [Proverbs 7:4]

Boy, did we have the need for wisdom (that beloved member of our family), throughout the whole family of faith today!

We’ve all been assigned to the work of specific committees from last Friday ‘til now…And now, ‘til we finish on Saturday, we ALL (712 of us) will look at EVERYTHING EACH committee has done up to this point.  That’s part of the democratic process: a committee works out a response to an issue, the whole Assembly debates and votes up or down.  If it passes at GA, it goes out to every presbytery to vote up or down…Got it?

So, you see why we needed wisdom today.  Sometimes I’ve wondered a bit if our "sister" wisdom was present.  Other times I wondered a lot.  But, maybe others have received the wisdom they've been praying for.  Maybe I need to keep praying for mine.  And maybe we ALL need to remember that God is in charge – was yesterday, and will be tomorrow when I wake up, too (and He won’t have any sweat on His upper lip like I have…).

Prayer Requests from folks I’ve met here (around the hotel, in cafes, or at the Assembly meetings):

Gary Parrott was hit by a bus in Seoul, Korea.

Baby Emily has gone home from the hospital, but is not expected to live.

San Diego earthquakes today.

One YAD (Youth Advisory Delegate, like Brianna) wasn’t able to be here.  Carey has been diagnosed with leukemia.

And I just got an e-mail from Laura and Shannon.  Looks like baby Nash’s birthday will be July 8 (that’s Thursday!).

I love you all and miss you more than you know.
